near unanimous ballot, Bryon Compton has been called to
serve as College Street's new Minister of Education. Bryon
delivered the July 17 morning sermon, A Kingdom Church with a
Kingdom Purpose, based on Matthew 6:33, "...seek first
His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well."
Bryon is 33 years old and is married to Joanna Compton who grew
up in Pickens, SC. Bryon and Joanna have two children, Haley age
5 and Gregory age 2. Bryon is the son of a missionary and grew
up on the mission field in South America. His native tongue is
Spanish. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina
and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
For the past six years, the Compton family has served as
appointed missionaries to Bangkok, Thailand where he was a
Media Specialist developing strategies to reach the Thai people
with the Gospel using new and creative media methods.
Bryan served as Media Minister at the First Baptist Church of
Burleson, Texas while in seminary. He also served as Associate
Pastor for a Spanish church while in Texas.
Bryon has an evangelistic heart and believes he can help lead
our church to reorganize for local missions and outreach that
will lead people to Jesus Christ and change lives for Him. Bryon
began service to College Street on Sunday, August 14 and
was ordained in the morning service.
