Our Operation NOAH Rebuild Summer Mission Trip is Complete

Thanks to Randy and Teresa Upton for this photo album!

Our mission trip to New Orleans is complete. Forty-five members of CSBC made the journey and returned home with a new understanding of just what happened four years ago during Hurricane Katrina.

Gentilly Baptist Church was the staging area for our group. We slept, showered and ate using their renovated gymnasium. Rebuild efforts similar to ours have resulted in Southern Baptist work on over 1600 homes in the New Orleans area. The rebuild effort has been extended to December 2009 in hopes of completing additional projects.

In addition to our rebuild efforts, our youth used the Beaverdam Association's "block party" trailer and equipment to help spread the Good News of God's love to scores of youth in the Gentilly area of New Orleans.

Our plans are to set aside a night this summer to bring a report about our trip. We will have a "beignets and coffee" fellowship and see some wonderful pictures of the area and of some of the work of our youth and adults.

Thanks to the leadership and hard work of Ray and Vanessa, the Music Ministry team, and the many others involved for the months of prayer, planning, and practice which culminated in the College Street Music Ministry’s presentation of Day Three. Also, thanks to everyone who attended, allowing us to have a full sanctuary for each presentation. We pray that the Gospel message of salvation through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was made more real in our lives!

New Photo Album: Our Centennial
Celebration Continues

CSBC welcomed Dr. Derrill Smith on Sunday, February 8. Dr. Smith served as our Associate Pastor during the mid and late 70's and as our first full time staff member other than Pastor.   Dr. Smith now serves as Senior Pastor of Wingate Baptist Church, in Wingate, NC.

Dr. Smith's message "Taking care of New Hearts" was from Ezekiel 36:26-27 and Hebrews 3:7-15.
