A Note from Pastor Ken: Upcoming Golden Fellowship (and "church-wide") Trips

Annual Fall Leap Trip – Asheville, NC – Thursday, October 16th

Join us for one our best day trips of the year. We leave the church parking lot at 8:30 am. We will travel to Hendersonville where we make our first stop at the Dish Barn and the Apple Barn. We always find great little things at the Dish Barn and we usually fill up the bus with apples from the Apple Barn. Once we have finished there we continue our trip northward until we arrive at the Moose Café just above the NC Farmers Market. The Moose Café is always packed and the food is always delicious. We will spend time at the Farmers Market before crossing over the interstate to the Dillard Department Store Outlet. Sometimes we find some really great bargains there and sometimes they are just reduced items. Following our stop there we will head down the mountains for a stop at Wendy’s in Hendersonville before making the last leg of the trip home. Hope you can enjoy this great trip with us on October 16th. Cost to ride the bus is $5 per person. Please sign the roster in the hallway in the church educational building so that we can make arrangements for both buses if needed.

Southern Christmas Show – Charlotte, NC
Thursday, November 13th

The annual Christmas Show in Charlotte is a fun fill day as we travel there and back. We must have 20 people to get the group discounts and the free bus parking, so please sign up on the Golden Fellowship bulletin board today.

Come join us as we travel this November 13th to the very “christmasy” Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, NC. Our trip will begin at 7:00 am from the church parking lot of College Street Baptist Church. We should arrive at the show near 11:00 am and will enjoy entertainment, sights and sounds and smells of Christmas, food, gift buying and lots Christmas spirit!

Our cost for the bus ride and tickets is just $15.00 per person. We will attend the first day of the 10 day show. If you wish you can purchase advanced tickets from the church office for $10.00 (group price) in the church office for attending on your own another day (November 13-23).

On our return journey home that evening we will stop at Jackson’s cafeteria in Gastonia before continuing our trip home with a bus filled with candy, gifts, Christmas decorations and sleepy people. See you on the bus!

From Pastor Ken: The Year of the Children

Each week we continue our two important ministries to children throughout the Walhalla area.

First is the Good News Club - For the 9th year, a team of adults from CSBC will be leading in an after-school Bible teaching program with approximately 100 children. Many thanks to Rev. Don Bickers for taking on the role of Coordinator. Many more thanks to all the volunteers who are filling the positions to make this year a great year with the children!

Second is the M*A*R*K Club for Kids. This is a new effort to reach out into the community by partnering with the weeknight efforts that have been in place for a number of years and with our music program. M*A*R*K* which stands for Music and Recreation for Kids. Like a mini-VBS, children will rotate through a variety of classes (music, recreation, Bible, crafts and food) in a 90-minute evening every Sunday.

Good News Club began September 16th. M*A*R*K Club began on Sunday, September 21. Be praying for the efforts to reach the children for Jesus Christ. Again, thanks to so many adults who have stepped up to say they wanted to be part of the effort.

Also, each Sunday night we continue our CrossWalk class for adults not involved in M*A*R*K Club. The class is entitled Unseen But Certain. It’s a six-week video based study taught by Daniel Akin, President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The six sessions will tell us what the Bible says and why it matters about angels, Satan, demons, hell, and heaven. I encourage you to participate and learn together.
